Marjorie Brody, CSP, PCC, CPAE
President and CEO
Marjorie Brody saw the need for more effective leadership and communication skills within organizations. The company she founded to address that need, BRODY Professional Development, has since grown into a thriving global organization. The company has become the preferred global vendor for Cognizant Technologies’ communication skills training — a direct result of its international-facilitator bench strength.
Fun Fact: Brody’s goal is to help everyone she works with see their possibilities.
Brody Professional Development grew each year from 1988 to 1997. During this time, Brody gave up the leadership reins to a COO and took her eye off the ball. In 1997 and 1998, not only did the company suffer from the collapse of the U.S. economy, but there were mergers and acquisitions within one of its core industries (pharmaceuticals). As a result, the company lost multiple contracts it had counted on. It was also using its line of credit to pay for many business expenses. At that point, Brody realized that she had to take back leadership, and made many changes, which resulted in enormous cost savings and layoffs. The offices moved, the processes were streamlined and Brody started looking at the bottom line of every purchase. As a result, the company’s debt was paid off within three years and the organization continued to grow.
Channeling back to her roots as a professor at Bucks County Community College, Brody created the Marjorie Brody Scholarship Fund for a communications major at the school. The fund has provided scholarship money for the last seven years to worthy students.
