President and CEO

EMentum is a woman-owned management and IT consulting firm serving federal agencies and private-sector corporations. The company’s core business includes implementing Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12), which involves implementing increased security controls for government buildings and government IT systems in the wake of the recent Office of Personnel Management data breach. As part of this process, eMentum is working to eliminate separate badges and credentials for privileged users, and to ensure users have only the required access needed to perform their roles.

Words of Wisdom: “Choose your business partners wisely. It’s a very competitive industry and not everybody has the same ethics.”

In part, eMentum’s growth has been fueled by the increasing importance of solid cybersecurity. “Over the last 12 years, the U.S. has become increasingly subjected to much more advanced, persistent threats to our national safety,” says Carolyn V. Hannon, president and CEO of eMentum. “With this increasing complexity and variability of cyber attacks, the need for highly skilled technology experts with deep program management and planning skills has also increased proportionately.”

Hannon personally consults with clients several days each week and leverages these client interactions to illustrate proper consulting and relationship management skills to the staff. She also meets regularly with staff members on project status and provides mentoring and ideas on direction and next steps.
