Over 350 CEOs & decision-makers joined SmartCEO in honoring women business leaders at this highly anticipated, high-energy celebration

Lanham, MD (July 25, 2012) — Washington SmartCEO recognized the area’s top women CEOs at the 2012 Brava! Awards which took place on Tuesday, July 24 at the Kellogg Conference Center at Gallaudet University. This year’s winners collectively generated $1.7 billion in revenue and employed over 4,800 people. Additionally, the 2012 Brava winners were profiled in the July 2012 issue of Washington SmartCEO magazine.

SmartCEO received over 200 nominations across the Mid-Atlantic for the award. A dozen local business leaders of Greater Washington formed the Brava committee and chose the 25 winners. For a complete list of winners, please see below. For more information on the Brava winners, visit www.smartceo.com to view the digital edition of the July 2012 issue.

“The 2012 Brava winners are an impressive group of women doing exceptional things for our community and beyond. They are the leaders of today and tomorrow — a highly talented group that has the drive to do great things. I am sure we will continue to hear of their success for many, many years to come,” says Jaime Nespor, group publisher of SmartCEO magazine. “We are honored to recognize such a group of women and their accomplishments.”

The winners were celebrated in style at the Washington Brava! Awards ceremony on July 24, 2012, at the Kellogg Conference Center at Gallaudet University. An impressive audience of friends, colleagues and family came together to celebrate the winners’ achievements. In addition, five past Brava winners were honored the evening of the event with their induction into the Brava! Hall of Fame. Jane Ottenberg of TMG from the class of 2011, Neelima Grover of The QED Group, LLC from the class of 2010, Lynda Ellis of Capitol Concierge from the class of 2009, Heidi Gerding of HeiTech Services, Inc. from the class of 2008 and Brenda Blisk of Blisk Financial Group from the class of 2007 received this honor.

The event kicked off with a high-level cocktail reception followed by an engaging, video-packed awards ceremony and concluded with a toast, eloquently delivered by Heidi Kallett of The Dandelion Patch. Over 200 suits were donated to support SmartCEO’s Washington Brava! Awards charity partner, Suited for Change, an organization which helps low-income women to increase their employment and job retention potential by providing professional attire and contributing to their economic independence.
